The Art of the Facebook header video
The Art of The Facebook page video cover.
The evolution of page cover options for Facebook business pages the last 2 years has come a long way.
However, that being said in the last 12 months Video Covers have taken over. But suprizingly very few companies and individuals are using it as yet.
I think, in a personal capacity that video for social even though it has been trending since late 2016 very few people understands how the video needs to be set up.
The good news is I am happy to guide you through this process.
First things first, let’s talk dimensions.
The main factor to take into concideration here is that you can’t just use any video for your cover video. The recommended dimensions are:
You will want to create a template on your Video Editing Suite (I use Adobe Premiere Pro) with these as set dimensions.
Next thing you want to pay attention to is video length:
Facebook recommends between 20 and 90 seconds in Length. Which for most Video Editors / producers is very much in terms of content.
But the clencher here is, you want to keep it upbeat and engaging.
So for instance, if you are a Social Media company this video needs to pump but, in the same breath K.I.S.S (Keep it simple stupid)
Going overboard with Green screen overlays, and After effects, and and and can get too distracting.
So a good balance here is essential.
Another very cool feature is that you get to have audio on the auto play function. Now keep in mind this is going to loop into infinity (and beyond) So use of voice overs is a good idea, with a nice BIG intro piece.
My last piece of info I will share here is, keep copyright in mind.
Music and visuals, so keep that clean. Also, keep your branding and tone on point and on brand. Don’t want to go and confuse the heck out of your audience.
